3rd update

Hey Guys! Happy Valentines day!! I met with Dr. McEntarfer this past Wednesday to talk about my proposal. I had already sent her an email with it attached, so when I came in to see her she had already written notes and had an idea about what I wanted to do. She asked questions about the general atmosphere at the Boys and Girl club so she could get an idea about how the club is run and what the kids need to work on. I told her about the terms that the kids use such as "that's so gay" and fag along with other terms like loser and idiot. It's interesting how most of the bullying is targeted towards gender at the club. We also talked about how we can teach the kids how to recognize when bullying is happening, and how to respond, and what to do when you don't know what to say when bullying is occurring. After the meeting I asked her if she thought that she could be my mentor and she said yes so I was very excited and I think she can really help me with my research. What I'm working on now is getting approval by Erin, my supervisor, to see if it's okay to do these planned activities. Then Dr. McEntarfer will be sending me a link where I can look up activities with a system that educators use for the class room.
