Well now that I have my new topic for the capstone I've become inthralled in my research. Just recently I was reading over a study that discussed the lesbian identity as being overlooked in LGBT society. Amongst the gay community there are many common terms used like twink, fairy, fem, bottom, top etc. to describe the different subgroups that make up the gay community. Yet with lesbians there are only a few dominant subgroups that are used to stereotype or label lesbians. The groups that are more accepted are the ones that are physically more attractive, or more comfortable with their sexuality. It's more common for the so called "butches" to be stereotypes because of their lack of femininity, and stereotypical attractiveness. These are just a few of the interesting things I've been researching.
I hope to incorporate studies and information like this into my surveys and interviews. Asking people they stereotype the lesbians at Fredonia, and beyond the Fredonia environment. Also another question being whether our accepting environment influences peoples sexualities? That is all I have for you this week...y'all have a good break now!
